The most common are: Sleep apnea, sleepwalking, parasomnias, night terrors, sleep eating, restless leg syndrome, bruxism, narcolepsy, periodic limb movement disorder, delayed sleep phase syndrome, hypopnea syndrome, jet lag, insomnia, rapid eye movement behavior disorder, shift work sleep disorder, and sleep paralysis.

Another important piece of information on sleeping disorders that is significant is what occurs physically during some of these more commonly experienced types of sleeping disorders. For instance, in the case of insomnia, a person experiences the inability to fall asleep or even rest for a decent amount of time. Narcolepsy is a sleeping disorder that is a neurological condition characterized by excessive daytime sleepiness. The main symptoms of narcolepsy are: Cataplexy, sleep paralysis, hypnagogic hallucinations, and automatic behavior.
